My calling as a “Handygal” began while working as my grandfather’s little helper when I was 5 years old. While most girls got Barbie dolls for Christmas, my mom gave me a kiddie workbench and tools! They inspired my building and problem solving talents that prepared me for my jobs with the phone company as an installer, and in electronic assembly for General Dynamics and Electric Boat. Twenty years ago I started L. Madeux Home Improvements following my work for REI Property Management, where I developed a love for helping customers and bringing a smile to their faces when the job is completed, which continues to this day in serving my customers.

I’ve always had a deep passion for carpentry and construction ever since I was a kid, spending countless hours building elaborate tree forts in our backyard woods. My interest in woodworking and carpentry developed during my time in junior high school shop class, where I was inspired by my incredible teacher Mr. Philippe “Phil” Granger. Eventually as a homeowner myself, I renovated my own old house, a historic home in Brookfield Center, over a 30 year period. Following a successful 35-year career in high-technology corporate sales, I made the leap to pursue my true calling. Now, I find immense joy in utilizing my skills to solve challenges for our valued customers, ultimately bringing smiles to their faces through our exemplary workmanship.

Our standard hourly Rate Pricing is $85 per worker for onsite labor (1 hour minimum) plus material procurement time. Hourly Labor is billed in 15 min increments from site arrival to departure and is detailed on your invoice. You only pay for the exact amount of labor you actually receive.
Formal proposals are provided for renovation and larger repair projects. Estimates are provided via email after free consultation to review job specifics in detail. While we bill hourly, we can provide materials costs and a ballpark labor estimate range.

Our preferred method of payment is Cash, Check or Zelle.
We also accept all major Credit Cards for an additional 3% of the invoice value to cover the transaction fee expense. Please notify us at the time of service if you intend to pay by Credit Card so we can be sure to include this fee when sending the invoice.
A detailed invoice will be sent to you after service for Cash or Check payments.

Yes. We work on Punch List tasks for our customers to help them tackle their carpentry, tiling, plumbing and electrical repairs and installations.
The only thing to note is that our minimum service offering is 1 hour of labor for 1-2 workers as required.

1) We do not perform work on ladders extending above 1 story height. For exterior projects including siding, roof repairs, fencing and masonry, we refer our customers to our trusted partners who specialize in that work.
2) We do not bid on large construction projects such as building additions.
3) We do not build new construction wall framing for additions including hanging new drywall. For these projects, we refer our customers to our trusted partners who specialize in that work. We DO do drywall repairs.
4) For new projects requiring specialty licensed trade involvement (typically to pull a permit for new electrical, plumbing or HVAC) we will coordinate and project manage that component to our licensed professionals who will perform that work.
Note: As a registered CT Home Improvement Contractor we do have the ability to subcontract work to these specialty trades as required.

Our company carries $1,000,000 of general business liability insurance, providing assurance that if an unexpected incident results in damage to your property, YOU will never be stuck with the expense to make things right. A copy of this policy is provided to customers upon request.

Our 25 year business reputation has been built on trust and confidence. L. Madeux Home Improvements craftsmanship is warrantied for 1 year from the date of invoicing. Our warranty covers replacement labor and defective materials outside of normal wear and tear.
As Certified Installers of several leading manufacturers, our customers are entitled to additional warranty benefits and/or warranty assistance as offered by the manufacturer.

Electrical Circuit Mapping
Did you just move into your house or have added electrical circuits over the years? Do you have a spaghetti- maze of electrical wires running into your circuit panel and don’t know which circuit goes to which outlet or switch? We solve this problem by tracing each line and labeling clearly on your panel and provide a spreadsheet to document each circuit.
